It is the Senior Leadership Team that provides direction and leadership for the entire organization.
The members of the Senior Leadership Team create the environment that defines the overall culture in the organization—the climate that determines how people feel about their organization and the work they do.
How people feel about working for their organization has a major impact on:
- their level of engagement,
- the degree to which they trust management,
- the ability to retain needed talent,
- productivity, customer relations, profitability, and sustainability.
Research conducted by The Gallup Organization found that over 70% of the American workforce are either not-engaged or are actively disengaged. Some of these employees come to work switched off, often going through the day in a compliant manner. Others are rebellious—actively working against their organization.
It is vital that all members of the Senior Leadership Team work together to create a workplace environment, a culture, where all employees can and do perform at their best. In a nutshell, the primary responsibility of the Senior Leadership Team is to create the conditions for success.
Unfortunately, many senior leadership teams do not understand that developing and maintaining an effective organizational culture is their responsibility. In those organizations, senior team members rely on ineffective traditional methods to “get people to do their jobsand to hold them accountable”.
To create the conditions for success, it is critical that all members of the Senior Leadership Team are absolutely clear and in full agreement with the organization's Purpose, Values and Vision, and the type of culture needed to achieve that Vision.
As an Associate of the Integro Leadership Institute, HPower & Associates, LLCemploys the Senior Team Alignment Process™ to address these critical issues with members of the Senior Leadership Team. Using this process, members of the senior team work to reach agreement on and implement a plan for creating an operating environment that will deliver needed business results.
The Senior Team Alignment Process™ is comprised of 4 distinct stages:
- Measurement: Using the Strategic Alignment Survey™ with all employees and the Team Alignment Questionnaire™ with members of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Module 1 – Senior Team Alignment Retreat: A 2-day retreat to focus on getting all team members on the bus and committed to being a high performing team.
- Module 2 – Senior Team Planning Retreat & Follow-Up: A 2-day retreat to focus on building consensus on Purpose, Values, Vision, and Goals followed by 5 follow-up work sessions to systematically review progress on implementing a plan for creating a Responsibility-Based Culture.
- Module 3 – The Extraordinary Team Work Sessions & Follow-Up: Two 1-day work sessions focused on increasing individual contribution to the Team Climate, Team Process and Team Results—followed by 3 follow-up work sessions to systematically review progress.
